After spending a few weeks at home after our Hawaii trip, we were so lucky to also be able to go on the Hub's big family trip this year. This year, the entire family, all 16, spent a week in our favorite place, Hilton Head Island. It was so fun to share our favorite island with the rest of our family. We are so blessed and very tired.
Here's the entire crew! We were all in one beach house, and yes, it was a bit of chaos. 🙂 It's a gift to be able to spend quality time with everyone.
For those of you who have been following the blog for a while, you might be shocked at how big all the "kids" are.
Here's the original crew!
One of the highlights of the week and a new thing for us was that the group went shark fishing. It was catch and release, but they all caught these crazy sharks.
The kids loved it.
A group always goes parasailing on these trips, and this is the first year the boys were old enough.
They were not scared at all and loved it too.
Such a fun experience for them to share with everyone! Thank you to Bobby for taking everyone to do this!
We also spent lots of time at the beach with the family.
This year, there were a crazy number of starfish that the kids found.
I'd never seen anything like it. We also released these back since they were still alive.
We also saw more stingrays than I've ever seen at a beach, AND two sharks swimming just along the shore, which spooked us a bit. I'd never seen them in the water at Hilton Head before. We were a lot more cautious after spotting all the sealife, too.
Since the boys were out of the water because of the animals, they played in the sand.
And of course, Hunter made a sand pillow.
Before we spotted sharks and rays, the boys both caught waves, too.
They don't even need a push anymore and can catch them on their own.
We also went back out to the beach at sunset a few times, which was pure magic.
I just love these pink skies.
We also shared some of our favorite restaurants with the crew.
And we did a lot of bike riding, which was so beautiful.
A last highlight was taking everyone to the Greg Russell show and the boys' sign getting read. They didn't get picked, but maybe next time!
We also shared the Jevon Daly show with our family, which is our personal favorite.
We had such a fun week! I'm so grateful we could share Hilton Head with our entire family. It was such a special time.
We're back at home catching our breath again. I can't believe school starts back up in about 2 weeks. This summer has flown by and I have all the feels about them going into first grade. Thanks for following along! We'll be back to more normal Asheville posts soon.
