Happy Monday everyone! How was your weekend?
Mine was busy but nice. I went to Columbia to celebrate this little guys first birthday!
Can you believe it? It seems like I just met him and wrote the post “Introducing Owen.” It is amazing how quickly and dramatically a baby grows in a year.
Our Pittsburgh family was in town for the festivities and it was so nice to catch up. Owen had his first cake and ate it like a champ!
This is a sugar induced lean in smile…
The theme was All Things Jungle and was super cute. Megan did such a good job with all the little details of the party! The cake was stunning!
She had coloring pages and jungle masks for the older kids.
And adorable favors with animal crackers and rubber duckie jungle animals.
What a blessing to be able to share such a special day with proud parents Megan and Justin.
Let’s continue the trend of happiness and joy with another edition of Things I’m Loving Lately!
Owen
Oh come on… he makes the list ALL the time. But look at this face? How did I get such a crazy adorbs nephew. I’m so lucky.
One more and I’m done… really? Isn’t he so cute!
Hobie Cat Sailing Video
This video was buried in my review of Sandals Grande Antigua. The hubs likes to use his GoPro to make vacation videos for us.
March for Babies and MORE Blog Videos!
I am still SO stoked to be the Chairperson for March for Babies in Asheville this year. We have our big kickoff breakfast this Friday and I am so ready to help make big things happen for such a worthy cause. Did you miss my first official You Tube video?
To help out you can start your own team with your co-workers, friends or family HERE. You can also join my team HERE. If you are out of town and would still like to help, you can sponsor me to walk HERE.
I’m planning on having another more lighthearted Running in a Skirt video out next week! WOOP!
Downy Unstopables
Have you guys tried these yet? I’m not exactly sure what they do other than make you laundry smell like heaven, but that is enough for me. I’m a sucker for all shiny objects at Target and bought this off the end of an aisle. You put a capful in your load of laundry in addition to the soap.
Downy Unstopables
They are great for towels, sheets and getting the stink out of running clothes. Anything to make laundry even a little more enjoyable falls into the love category for me!
Merry Marshmallow Candle
My Mother in law gave me this candle and it smells like all things fabulous about winter.
I figured it didn’t scream “I’m a Christmas decoration,” so I’ve left it out and I’m totally loving it.
Brussels Sprouts
I know.
I’m such a foodie. I love Brussels sprouts! I’ve been working on a yummy and easy way to roast them. That means I’ve eaten them 527 three times lately and I’m still not sick of them. The final version is perfected and will be on Running in a Skirt Thursday.
You will love them too, I promise.
Coming up tomorrow on Running in a Skirt, I’m sharing a Kale salad that will literally rock your world. It is, in my opinion, one of the yummiest things I’ve made in ages! I’ve already made it again it was so good.
And of course, have a Marvelous Monday! Thanks for the linkup Katie.

Your nephew is a cutie-patootie for sure! I love brussles sprouts too. I look forward to seeing your recipe.
That cake is beautiful, and you really weren’t kiddin’ when you said that he ate that cake like a champ! 😛
Looking forward to your kale salad and brussels sprouts recipes! :]!
Julie, love your Hobie Cat piece. You do need to tell the person operating your camera to “slow down” they almost made me seasick!! I have only been sailing once and that was when I was about 19, but I had a wonderful time and would love to do it again. Since I’m now 75 just maybe I can do it again.
Haha! Slow is not in the Hubs vocabulary 🙂 You should GO!!! It was sooo much fun!!!!
What a cute post! I love all the decorations 🙂 the downy unstoppables are a fav of mine also!
Thanks Ivanna! Great to see you here today! Thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment. I hope to see you again soon!
Happy birthday to Owen! And what a super cute birthday party theme!!

Oh. My. Gosh. Your nephew is PRECIOUS!! Looks like you had a great time 🙂
I know! I just want to blow off work and drive back down there to hang out with him.
WOW he is a cutie!!! I love the jungle party theme – so adorable.
I also think I’d love that candle scent. Anything sweet from Yankee is a winner in my book.
You’ll have to keep that one in mind!!!
What cute photos, I love them! And the theme is so CUTE!! This just reminded me, I haven’t even BEGUN to think up a birthday theme for Tessa’s 2nd birthday.. oh my!! – http://www.domesticgeekgirl.com
Kids parties go all out these days!! So cute and so much fun to put together. Good luck figuring out what to do with Tessa’s!
Glad you were able to enjoy Owen’s 1st birthday party. He’s a cutie. Time really flies when you see the growth of a young child. Hard to believe my grandson Julian is almost 6 months old.
Thanks Blane!

Oh, the CUTEness! Gah! Is it just me, or does Owen really look like your husband? I am so excited to see that kale recipe you teased about! Yippie! I love veggies forever and always. And I need to get those Downy things. Love these posts! 😉
He does have a little of the hubs in him. He is such a funny little boy! So serious and then he breaks out in this crazy smile that melts your heart!
I’m glad I’m not the only one who get excited about veggies 🙂
He is too adorable, and that cake is beyond amazing! Glad you had a fun trip 🙂
Thanks Danyelle!
I can’t waits for the brussels recipe! I love them too and always get so excited when I see them on the menu of a restaurant which is hardly ever. Come on restaurants, step it up!
I know! I don’t hardly ever see them out. They are so easy to cook- you think restaurants would jump on board!
