Blog Survey! Sisterhood of the World Blogging Award

Hi friends!

You guys know I’m a sucker for a good blog survey!  My friend Lo from Travel the Unbeaten Path tagged me in the Sisterhood of the World Blogging Award.  We connected because she’s a vegetarian and a Gator!  Her site follows her travels with her young son.  It’s great!

She asked some fun questions, so I thought I’d give them a whirl!

1. How has blogging impacted you and your life?

I’ve had some pretty big life changes in the past year and a half.  Leaving a long time career at the TV station, was the catalyst to work full-time on this blog.  Now this site is a huge part of my life and I love it.  I’ve been blown away by the support, friends, community and opportunities Running in a Skirt has brought me.  I would have left the station with or without the blog, but it has made the transition so much easier.

2. What’s the favorite post you’ve written?

Oh! That’s tough. I’ll try to think of them in terms of the categories on my site, because that’s how my mind works.

Fitness: My 26:58 5K or my Chicago Marathon recap (although I wish this post had larger pictures in it!  I don’t know what I was thinking!)

FoodFresh Peach Salsa, Cajun Shrimp Burger and Zucchini Vegetarian Lasagna are all ones that stick out in my head from recent days that I’d like to make again ASAP.

Fashion: The one with the denim vest and sunflowers… I feel pure joy when I see it.  Isn’t that what fashion should do for us?

Travel: My Brazil series is one of my favorite and I also love the one where I talked about the Hubs flying hobby.

My absolute favorite is probably 50 Life Lessons from My Mom.

I’m also terrible at picking just one of anything– sorry 🙂

3. How do you find time to juggle it all, blogging, working, having a social life?

I’ve learned so much since leaving the grind of the TV world and one of them is you can’t do it all.  At least I can’t.  Trying to do everything made me sick.  I do the best I can at any given moment and sometimes things fall through, but that’s ok.

4. What is something special you do to treat yourself?

Hello mani pedi!  My favorite splurge afternoon.

5. Do you take spontaneous trips or are you more of a planner?

I’m more of a planner, although recently I’ve taken some last minute trips.  But even when I’m last minute, I plan exactly what I’m going to do on the way there 🙂

6. Where was your last trip to?

I went to Hope Town Bahamas in August.

7. Where is your dream vacation destination?

This is a HARD question because I want to go EVERYWHERE! Topping my list right now is Australia, Galapagos Islands, Manchu Picu, African safari, Netherlands, France (country side), Spain and Greece.  And just for good measure I’ll throw in Tahiti!  I say dream big– no harm in that!

8. Weirdest fact about you?

I was Pluto at Disney World in High School.  But if you grew up in Orlando, that actually wasn’t that uncommon.

9. Knowing what you know now, what advice would you give to your 18-year-old self?

To slow down and do things you can only get away with when you are 18.  You have the rest of your life to pretend to be a grown up.

10. Are you a light packer or a I-should-take-everything-just-in-cast type of gal?

Embarrassingly bad bring-it-all packer.  It’s bad.  I joke that I’ll change…. but I probably will not.  Unless you ask me on the last day of a long trip with heavy bags, I’m totally fine with my bad packing skills.

Thanks for stopping by today!  Tomorrow I’m so excited to share my Pumpkin Pie Baked Oatmeal.

I’m linking this post with Jill Conyers for Fitness Friday and Annmarie for Wild Workout Wednesday.

Your turn!

Rules are I nominate 10 other bloggers but I’m nominating you all!  If you are reading this and a blogger, consider yourself tagged.  Answer on question below and the rest on your site!  If you aren’t a blogger, answer away in the comments!  I love to learn more about you.

Love the sunflower picture, you look so happy!

It was fun! When I was there is was a lot of younger kids… a lot of us were in high school or college 🙂 You should post a survey too!

  4. Fun survey! I really enjoy your blog. Answering Q1, I think blogging has started some conversations I might not have had. Friends I know casually will remark on something I’ve written, and next thing I know we are really connecting.

I’ve also gotten to run some races for free, which is pretty cool.

Such a fun survey Julie!! I love your answers and I agree with Susie, you really are a ray of sunshine. You always manage to put a smile on my face when I read your posts!
I am a compulsive over packer. I am so jealous of the people who can travel with just a carry on!

You are too kind! That really makes my day. I’m so glad we’ve “connected!” I am jealous of light packers too, but not enough to figure out how to change my habits.

Thanks! I sadly think only one poloraid exists and I’m not sure where it is! It was before I took 500 pictures of every moment of my life.

Thanks for tagging me, Julie!! I enjoyed reading your answers. I’ll answer #3 here and tackle the other questions on my blog! I manage work and blogging by mainly posting one time per week. I occasionally can blog a couple of times per week, but after teaching all day I am pretty tired when I get home. I really enjoy reading all the blogs I follow, though, and I’ll do that in the evenings as a form of relaxation. Julie, your blog is at the top of my list!! My main time to do a post is on the weekends when I have more time. Hopefully, in the future, I can begin posting much more frequently during the week!

Thanks so much Debbie! I’m looking forward to reading your post too! I really appreciate you taking the time to make my site a small part of your day.

Very fun survey! I’m like you – I’m a big time planner! I just can’t be spontaneous, but I’m trying to ease up when on vacations. I’d love to go to all of the places on your dream list!

    • JulieWunder November 13, 2015 at 7:35 pm - Reply

Thanks Janelle! It’s a crazy list, but I figure dream big or there is not chance it will happen.
