We had such an incredible time on our trip to Hawaii. I shared our adventure on The Big Island, including seeing a volcano and swimming with manta rays, and I'm picking up the trip here with our time on the south side of Kauai. We love Kauai so much, we split our trip up into two parts, starting with our time in Poipu, which is on the south side of the island.
We stayed at our all-time favorite resort, The Grand Hyatt Kauai, and kicked the week off at their gorgeous restaurant, Tidepools.
We spent lots of time on the waterslides, pool, and lagoon during our time there.
We also hung out on the beach. The surf was too rough here for the kids to go in, but they loved the soft sand for digging. We also got to watch all kinds of surfing from this spot.
And we, of course, saw more sea turtles.
Our big adventure on this side of the island was taking a boat tour of the Napali Coast. It took us to this incredible spot, which photos don't do justice.
We had done this on our honeymoon many years ago, but honestly, it was even more beautiful than I had remembered. I'm so glad we got to share this with the kids. This part of the island is remote; you either have to take a boat or a helicopter to see it. Or go on a 17-mile hike, that's not kid-friendly at all.
The day we went, the clouds layered over the mountains, and it was stunning. Here are some of my favorite photos. It's 100 times more beautiful than the photos look.
There are cool sea caves dotting the coast, and the highlight for me was going INSIDE of them.
And we also got to jump out and snorkel along the cliffs. The boys got to ride a slide into this, which was a highlight for them.
It's quite an adventure, with rough waters, to get out to this area of the island, and I'm so glad it worked out for us to be able to go. Such a bucket list adventure for all of us.
We wrapped our boat ride with shave ice!
We also had more incredible food on Kauai, along with some special sunsets.
This is where the Hubs and I honeymooned, so this hotel holds a special place in my heart! I'm so glad we could bring the boys back here and share with them the magic.
We had such a wonderful time on the south side of Kauai. Our next stop is all the way on the north side of the island, near Princeville, which is such a special spot. I'll pick up the story, including photos from a luau we went to, in the next post.
