Rosemary Asparagus Sauteed Recipe
This Rosemary Asparagus recipe is the best sauteed asparagus recipe made with simple, easy-to-find ingredients like lemon, rosemary, and garlic. This simple and healthy side dish is cooked stovetop and can be on the table in just 15 minutes. My whole family loves asparagus, and this is one I make for the family again and again.
Rosemary Asparagus is a perfect side dish. Asparagus is a spring vegetable, but this is a dish I make year-round. I start with beautiful fresh asparagus and rosemary from my garden. I try to find the thinner asparagus because I think it tastes and looks better. Next, I heat up a pan to medium heat. I add the olive oil, rosemary, and asparagus to the pan. I stir mine well and put a lid on it to get some steam action. The finished product is so flavorful and easy to make!

Ingredients:
Here's an overview of what you'll need to make this Rosemary Asparagus Sauteed Recipe, but keep scrolling for the full recipe amounts.
- Asparagus: You'll need a bundle of asparagus. If you can find it at the grocery store, the smaller spears have a better flavor. Asparagus can be found year-round, but has the best flavor in spring to early summer. To prepare the asparagus, you will need to watch it and remove the tough woody end. To figure out where that is, take the stalk and bend it. It will naturally break off the woody section, leaving you with the tender part. From there, you can line up the rest of your bunch and cut them all evenly.
- Olive Oil: I like to use a really good high-quality olive oil; I like this one.
- Rosemary: Rosemary is a fabulous earthy flavor that pairs perfectly with the asparagus. I use fresh asparagus from my garden, but you can use store-bought or dried.
- Lemon: Brightens the flavor of the asparagus. If you really love lemon, feel free to use some lemon zest too.
- Garlic: Fresh cloves garlic adds a lovely kick.
- Salt and Pepper

Instructions:
This is an overview of the instructions for this Rosemary Asparagus Sauteed Recipe, but the full, detailed, printable recipe is below in the recipe card.
- Add olive oil to a sauté pan (with a cover) and heat to medium heat.
- Add the asparagus, rosemary, salt, and pepper to the pan and sauté.
- Cover and allow to cook for about 6-7 minutes, depending on the thickness of the asparagus. Remove the lid and stir occasionally. Asparagus cooks quickly.
- Make a hole in the middle of the pan and add the garlic. Sauté until just starting to become fragrant (about 20 seconds). Reduce the heat to low, then mix the garlic and asparagus together, and squeeze the lemon juice over the dish. Cook for an additional minute or until desired crispness. You want it to be tender-crisp. Be careful not to burn the garlic.
- Garnish with additional lemon and rosemary. Serve immediately.

Variations
I love this Rosemary Asparagus Sauteed Recipe as written, but here are some fun variations.
- Make it Cheesy: Add some grated parmesan cheese before serving.
- Make it Nutty: Add some pine nuts to the pan with the garlic.
- Mix up the Herbs: If you don't like plain rosemary or don't have fresh rosemary, try using Herbs de Provence or an Italian Spice Mix.
- Make it Mini: Cut the asparagus into bite-sized pieces and prepare it the same way.
- Make it Richer: Use butter instead of olive oil.
