Healthy Peppermint Chocolate Smoothie

Feeling festive?  How about trying a healthy Peppermint Chocolate Smoothie?

Healthy Peppermint Chocolate Smoothie recipe / Running in a Skirt

Hi everyone,

It took me awhile this year but I’m finally feeling all sorts of festive and merry.  I basically want all things peppermint, chocolate and Elf movies this week.<—SANTA! I KNOW HIM!!!!

I’m also seriously looking forward to the Hubs and I annual viewing of Prep and Landing.  It was a Disney Christmas special a few years back with lots of aviation references so we love it.  Has anyone else seen it?  Even if you don’t have kids, I recommend it.

Since I can’t eat cookies and chocolates all the time without feeling like garbage, I will be making some of my Healthy Holiday Treats including this mouthwatering Peppermint Chocolate Smoothie.

My Healthy Peppermint Chocolate Smoothie has a base of bananas… covered with chocolaatlyyyyy peppermintyyyyy goodness.  I promise not to tell if you won’t.

Make my Peppermint Chocolate Smoothie along side my Dark Chocolate Peppermint Popcorn and pull out your favorite Christmas movie for all kinds of holiday fun.  Your taste buds just might explode with Christmas magic.

Santa’s sleigh will have no trouble getting off the ground with all your spirit!

Believe it or not you could even start your day off with this good one!  It only takes 5 ingredients and a short amount of time in your blender.  If I was eating this to start my day, I’d probably leave off the whipped cream though… just sayin…

Healthy Peppermint Chocolate Smoothie

A healthy, no guilt holiday treat.
Prep Time 5 mins
Total Time 5 mins
Course Drinks, Smoothie
Cuisine American
Servings 1 smoothie

  • 1 large banana or two small ones, frozen
  • 1 tablespoon cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup almond milk
  • 1/4 cup greek yogurt
  • 1-2 drops peppermint extract, see notes
  • handful of ice cubes
  • Optional topping: whipped cream, mini dark chocolate chips and Christmas sprinkles

  • Put all ingredients in the blender and blend until smooth
  • If having as more of a treat serve with whipped cream, mini dark chocolate chips and Christmas sprinkles.

Peppermint extract is very powerful, so start with just a drop or two and add more to taste. To make vegan or dairy free sub the appropriate yogurt for the Greek Yogurt. You can also sub coconut whipped cream for regular whipped cream.

Getting to this late – but agreed! I was totally loving all of the chocolate & peppermint while I binge watched holiday movies. It's the best! Although Christmas is over, I'm still kind of on the wagon… so this is totally up my ally!
I hope you had a wonderful holiday =)

MMm, darn I could have made this for breakfast but didn’t see it until I am eating hahah This looks like such a healthy treat! We watched Home Alone 2 last night which was great. I haven’t found any new holiday movies which is a bummer but the classics are still classics and awesome.
