Cottage Cheese Smoothie
This Cottage Cheese Smoothie brings together the sweet flavors of pineapple and strawberries to make a delightful healthy smoothie that's rich in flavor and protein, without using protein powder. Cottage Cheese is the magical ingredient here that blends together nicely and smoothly, just giving the smoothie a rich creamy flavor, not actually tasting like cream cheese.
Blend this beauty up for a quick breakfast, snack, or brunch for kids or adults. I made this for the twins for an afterschool snack one afternoon and they raved about it, and I felt good they were secretly getting some protein. This smoothie is rich, satisfying and so creamy. If you are worried about tasting cottage cheese, you don't! It just tastes nice and creamy... the fruit covers up the flavor.
I kept this Strawberry Pineapple Cottage Cheese Smoothie pretty basic with just four simple ingredients, but you can customize this to fit your tastes. You can even mix up the fruit in it, and I've included fun variations below.

Here's an overview of what you'll need to make this Cottage Cheese Smoothie, but keep scrolling for the full recipe amounts.
- Cottage Cheese: The different ingredient in this smoothie is cottage cheese, which gives the smoothie a rich, creamy texture and naturally adds protein to the recipe. I used low-fat cottage cheese. But you can use whatever type fits your diet. You don't taste the cottage cheese, it just gives it a rich creamy texture.
- Frozen Strawberries: I like to use frozen fruit for my smoothie for the best consistency and it keeps you from having to water down your smoothie with ice. Strawberries are the perfect fruit for a smoothie.
- Frozen Pineapple: I love a good tropical twist to anything, so I added pineapple to the smoothie too. Use the frozen pineapple chunks in the grocery store. I've included a list of other fruits that will also work in the smoothie. Banana is a good substitute for pineapple if you can't find it.
- Milk: Any type of milk will work, but I like using unsweetened almond milk. You can use soy milk, cow's milk, oat milk, or even coconut milk.

- Check the consistency and see if you need to add more almond milk.
- Pour the smoothie into a glass and enjoy!
Variations
I love this Cottage Cheese Smoothie as written, but here are some fun variations.
- Make it with Protein Powder: Add a scoop of your favorite protein powder to get up to 40 grams of protein in the smoothie.
- Add Sweetener: Not sweet enough for you? Add a small amount of honey, maple syrup, or stevia.
- Add Greens: To get even more nutrition in this, add a handful of your favorite greens like spinach or kale.
- Add Veggies: You can also add frozen veggies like cauliflower to give it more nutrition.
- Make it a Smoothie Bowl: Add a touch less milk to give it a thicker consistency. Put it in a bowl instead of a glass and add toppings like granola, sliced banana, and coconut.
- Mix of the Fruit: You can make this with other frozen fruits like blueberries, blackberries, raspberries, bananas, mangoes, oranges.
