Ingredients:
Here's an overview of what you'll need to make this Teriyaki Salmon Air Fryer recipe, but keep scrolling for the full recipe amounts.
- Salmon Fillets: You'll need salmon fillets that are about 6 ounces and an inch thick. I like to use Atlantic Salmon because it has a higher fat content and cooks nicely in the air fryer without getting dried out. You can get the kind with the skin removed or skin-on. You can also use wild-caught salmon, but it is often thinner and will need a little less time to cook. Thaw out your salmon before cooking it.
- Teriyaki Sauce: Use your favorite bottled sauce or follow my recipe below to make your own. A few of my favorite bottled dressings are here, here, or here.<--- The third option is paleo and keto! You can also look for a gluten-free soy sauce. You can also make your own with the ingredients below in a medium saucepan over medium heat.
- Garnish: Sesame Seeds & Green Onions/ scallions
Homemade Teriyaki Sauce:

Instructions:
This is an overview of the instructions to make this Teriyaki Salmon Air Fryer recipe, but the full, detailed, printable recipe is below in the recipe card.
- Spray the air fryer with cooking spray. You can also line the air fryer with parchment paper for easy cleanup, but I think it cooks better without it.
- Put the salmon fillets inside the air fryer basket. Pat the fish dry with paper towels. Sprinkle with salt & pepper. If your salmon as skin, put it skin side down.
- Carefully brush the teriyaki sauce onto the salmon fillet.
- Air fry for 8-10 minutes, depending on the thickness of the fish. The salmon is done when it easily flakes with a fork.
- Remove the salmon from the basket and put it on a plate. Sprinkle with sesame seeds. For extra flavor, you can serve it with a side of teriyaki sauce.
When is Salmon Done?
If you are new to cooking fish, it's easy to tell when salmon is done. Salmon is done when it turns opaque and flakes with a fork. If you use a meat thermometer, you can tell when it's done. The USDA recommends cooking salmon to an internal temperature of 145°F, which is well done for food safety. If you have health concerns, that is safe for you. I find that to make the salmon tough, though. I cook my salmon at medium, which is closer to 125-130, but do that at your own risk. The fish comes out tender and not dried out this way.

Teriyaki Salmon Air Fryer Recipe Variations
I love this Teriyaki Salmon Air Fryer recipe as written, but here are some fun variations.
- Make this into Skewers: Make Asian Salmon Skewers with this recipe.
- Make it from Frozen: Follow these instructions to make the salmon from a frozen fillet.
- Make it Spicy: This is a sweeter Asian sauce, so this recipe is not spicy. If you'd like to make it spicy, add a drizzle of sriracha after cooking. You could also add some red pepper flakes to the sauce.
