Hi everyone! It's been a hectic few weeks as we are in the thick of "Maycember" with all sorts of meetings, games, and end-of-school-year activities. I'm trying to remember this is just a season and we'll be a little quieter again soon once school is out. There are only a few weeks left of school, which feels just crazy to me. I have a few recent highlights to share with you!
First up is Mother's Day. We had such a nice day with brunch at the Grove Park Inn. We had a delicious meal and enjoyed the prettiest mountain views.
I'm so grateful to be their Mom!
The Grove Park had some lovely details to make it special including this beautiful ice sculpture.
They also had these gorgeous desserts. It was such a fun meal, and I'm grateful we could go.
And we even ran into our neighbors there, and all the kids were so happy!
Another fun recent highlight was going to the WNC Nature Center for a fun kids painting class.
My boy's, especially Jackson, love art and they had so much at this class.
They painted a red fox and after we got to explore the Nature Center. I'm so grateful it's back open after Helene! It's one step closer to life feeling normal again.
This class was so much fun and I jus love the Nature Center.
The third bit I wanted to share is not as much fun. We had this crazy hail and wind storm late last week that knocked over ANOTHER tree in our yard. It split and scraped the roof, gutters, and siding and landed like this. It was inches from knocking a hole in our roof. It knocked all of our glass patio lights down, and there was shattered glass all over the patio. Somehow, all of my plants that I had just done were ok!
We ended up spending most of the weekend cleaning up the mess. It was terrible, but could have been a lot worse, so we are so grateful. The trees around us are still weak from the Hurricane.
And here's what the hail looked like! It was so much that and filled our driveway twice.
We also had an Earthquake on Saturday, which I felt after we were finishing up breakfast. The weather and natural disasters in the mountains are certainly getting a lot crazier. Between the hurricane, wildfires, hail, and now the earthquake, it feels a bit unsettled and worrisome lately! I think all of us living in Asheville and WNC are feeling a bit weary.
I hope all my local readers were safe in the storm, as it was all around us, too.
That's all for this week! We have a calmer weekend, which I'm looking forward to. I hope all the mothers had a wonderful Mother's Day, and as always, thanks for following along.
Love, Julie
