Hi everyone! In August, we went to Hot Springs, Virginia, for our family reunion with my side of the family. We stayed at the historical Omni Homestead Resort and had such a fun time. It was a really cool and unique mountain getaway. It's considered the first resort in America, and is filled with fascinating history, gorgeous mountain views, and really fun family activities. It's a really great combination of a luxury resort that is still super kid-friendly.
I'm working on a resort review, but I had so many cute family photos from the trip that I wanted to share them with you in a separate post. These needed a spot on the blog. 🙂
I'll kick the photos off with this fun one of both families. I think this one is going in a frame.
My Dad and Margaret, as well as her son, also came and are in some of the photos below.
And here's a great one of the historical tower of the hotel.
And here's the cutest set of kiddos ever. 🙂
The resort had all sorts of interesting seasonal activities you could choose from, including ziplining, axe-throwing, hiking, and more.
We decided to try Falconry because it was something no one had done before, and all the kids were old enough to do it.
We got to learn about falconry and watched a guide walk through the woods with a trained falcon that followed him. It was super interesting.
The activity ended with everyone getting a chance to hold the bird, which was a hit with the kids and adults.
We also did a family tractor ride that included s'mores and music.
It was a beautiful day and we had such a lovely time together.
We also did a family round of mini-golf, which is on the property too. We got rained on while playing, but that just made it more fun for the kiddos.
The resort also has several pools, including a water park area with a lazy river and slides.
Everyone had a blast.
We also had lots of chances to explore the historical resort.
Plus, we had some great food!
And accidentally wore matching outfits. 🙂
Last night we ate in their fine dining room, and it was such a lovely time. The resort had a lot of nice things, but you never felt like your kids were out of place.
I even surprised Dad with these funny face masks for all the kids to help celebrate his birthday.
We are so grateful to him for getting us all together and treating us to this amazing family reunion.
And I'm so grateful these kids got to spend more time together. Having them all close in age is such a gift!
I can't wait to share more about this resort with you soon! It was a fun place to visit, especially for a multi-generational trip with kids of different ages. That post will be published next week.
