Hi everyone from a very cold Asheville. It's been a week, with the ice storm hitting us this past weekend and keeping the kids out of school for Monday and Tuesday. We were so lucky that it wasn't worse for us and although we lost power, it came back on for us by the evening. Our ice was really started to get thick, when luckily the temperature came up to about 34 degrees for several hours in the afternoon, which kept us from looking like Mississippi and Tennessee. Some of our neighbors to the south are in worse shape too, so we are so lucky.
This is what it was looking like with hours left to go in the storm. The kids did get some weather school from Mom and a lesson on when we get freezing rain, sleet and snow!

Here's what the deck was looking like.

This is our grass, which was coated.

And our patio lights, which were starting to sag! It was really building up for HOURS and then thank goodness it got a bit warmer.

We were iced in for the weekend and Monday. We played lots of games and poor Makena did not want to go out.

We also had to do some virtual school Tuesday. The storm was inconvenient for us, but I'm so grateful that we are fine and warm!
We are a little weather weary though and could use some nicer weather, but another snow storm is possible this weekend with extended super cold weather.

The one thing we got to do this week before the ice hit, was go snow tubing with the Cub Scouts. I wasn't thrilled about going, but I also had FOMO and didn't want to miss out on seeing the kids so happy.

And of course, they loved it.

I got these photos from the tubing place and loved them!

Just look at Hunter's face! They went up and down countless times and it was good they could get some fresh air before getting iced in.

And here's proof I went. I went down once just to say I did and decided it was not for me. 🙂

The kids loved it though and I'm glad I got to see them!
That's it for this week. We are all a bit weary from this storm and hoping this weekend's snow will be minor! Between sick days and snow days, the kids have been out of school more than they have been in.
Stay warm everyone!
